LONDON BIRD ATLAS – YEAR 1 PROVISIONAL ATLAS MAPS

Here is the first set of maps from winter 2007/8, and from the spring/summer 2008 breeding season. This is just presence data at the moment; please bear in mind these maps do not necessarily represent evidence of breeding. We hope to publish some breeding evidence maps on the website later. We must stress that these maps are provisional at the moment and the data is unverified. This list was last updated on 17 May 2009.

Thanks to Neil Smith for producing the maps, and to Thomson Ecology for providing the ARCGIS software. We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the many surveyors who have provided the data so far.

All records are unverified and will need to be validated by the BTO reps and LNHS recorders before being included in the final Atlas results and in the London Bird Report.

Note that these are only presence records. A blank cell (tetrad) on these maps does not necessarily mean that the species is absent from that area; it may well be that no recording has yet been undertaken there. If you are able to fill in any of the gaps on the maps, please ensure you submit your records either via the BTO Atlas website , or to the LNHS recorder for your area (ensuring that it is clear from your records what tetrad the sightings were made in).
